Social resilience as a response to the global challenges of our time

Today's global community faces a great number of global problems that are forcing a redefinition of the ways and limits of human existence. In these conditions, the search for adequate responses to global challenges becomes urgent. Relying on the theory and methodology of synergetics, the authors justify the need to address the concept of social resilience, or community resilience, which refers to the ability of social systems to tolerate abrupt changes in the external environment and adapt to new conditions. The article reveals the content of the concept of social resistance, describes various characteristics that determine the resilience of communities in various crises. The authors refer to the methodological difficulties of the described concept as the ways of assessing social resistance. It is concluded that in the context of globalization, the development of the resilience concept is able to prepare individuals and communities for both expected and unexpected challenges, while providing the basis for the development of managerial solutions to improve people's lives.
