Social justice and equity as key guiding principles in the field of the right to education

Social justice and equity serve as pivotal principles in the realm of education, fostering equal access to education for all citizens. In China, social justice and equity in education are perceived as fundamental factors contributing to societal development and the enhancement of quality of life for every individual. Hence, the aim of this article is to investigate the principles of social justice and equity with consideration of the Chinese educational system’s characteristics. Employing a qualitative research method, scientific publications pertaining to education in China were analyzed to achieve this goal. The research findings confirm progress in ensuring equal opportunities in Chinese education, yet they also highlight lingering challenges and the measures taken to address them. China’s commitment to advancing social justice is emphasized, alongside the imperative of continued efforts to ensure equal opportunities in education. By addressing persistent challenges and embracing innovative approaches, China can further advance its commitment to ensuring equal educational opportunities for all, thereby contributing to the realization of a more just and prosperous society.
