Socio-demographic and psychological characteristics of cadets of the Suvorov military school

The improvement of professional training in military educational institutions has become of great current interest due to necessity of increase of effectiveness of the armed forces and organs of Internal Affairs of the Russian Federation; a special place here is occupied by the Suvorov military schools due to the students’ age composition. The aim: to study some socio-demographic and psychological characteristics of cadets of the Suvorov military school. The acts of medical examination and findings on the results of psychophysiological examination of candidates into the students of the Chita Suvorov military school were analyzed. The main group consisted of 103 cadets, graduated from school, 14-15 years of age; the control group was formed of 386 adolescent candidates into the cadets who were not enrolled to a military school. The cadets who entered and graduated from the school, alternatively to those who did not, originated from wealthy families, had higher academic progress, did not take any of psychoactive substances, had characteristic of higher intellectual-mental activities and emotional sustainability. Thus, this study demonstrates the selection of cadets‘effectiveness of the Suvorov military school.
