Socially Integrative and Communicative Significance of the Reward in the System of Public Control (Based on the Views of P.A. Sorokin)

In the face of external challenges, including the threat to political and cultural sovereignty, as well as internal tasks and strategic goals set by the state, theories that provide answers to questions about how to achieve consolidation, spiritual mobilization, preservation of traditional cultural values, and successful communication among members of society are gaining attention. By systematizing P.A. Sorokin’s ideas about the reward as an essential element of social control that performs sociointegrative and communicative functions, and the role of spiritual and moral values in sociocultural dynamics, the author has managed to actualize this idea in relation to the conditions of multinationality, multireligiousness, and the complex structure of modern Russian society. Based on the psychological component of the reward phenomenon as a motivational, axiologically significant force in the system of legal consciousness, the author comes to the conclusion about the possibilities of using the award business in the tasks of spiritual mobilization of modern Russian society. Conclusion dwells upon the fact that the reward case that has developed in Russia should go beyond the legal system, expanding its functional capabilities through formally established methods of vertical mobility of the population with the help of targeted formation of public consciousness aimed at popularizing the award and traditional values of Russian culture as an element of civic consciousness.
