Socio-economic problems of the population housing provision

Analysis of the population housing conditions in the Russian Federation and its regions shows a significant lagging behind developed countries by the level of dwelling space provision, growing amount of dilapidated and hazardous housing, insufficient rates of housing construction, low financial affordability of housing to population. The authors come to a conclusion that the housing-related policy, oriented on strictly market mechanisms, has not proved true. They propose alternative approaches to solving problems in the housing sphere, including development of affordable rental housing.
