The article is devoted to the social and cultural self-realization of students in volunteer activities. World and domestic experience shows that participation in the volunteer movement is one of the most effective ways of social and cultural self-realization of young people in school. Long-term historical experience has shown that the socio-cultural activity has a huge arsenal of forms, means and methods of education, can have a significant impact on the education of young students. The author substantiated the conclusion that the concept of “social and cultural self-development of young students” in the volunteer movement as a modern humanistic educational process serves as a basic characteristic for the purpose, content and resources on the basis of axiological approach
