Socio-psychological patterns, which determine the extremist worldview, and their cognitive role in solving the tasks of crime prevention by detective measures

Introduction. One of the priorities of ensuring information security of the Russian Federation is to predict, detect and assess information threats, and counteract extremist ideology. These tasks are updated in the conditions of the urgent need to maintain stability and resistance of the modern world. The objective set in the article is as follows: to summarize psychological approaches to the development of the problem of socially dangerous behavior of an individual; to carry out a theoretical analysis of socio-psychological patterns that determine the extremist worldview of an individual and groups, for the subsequent use of its results in successful solving the tasks of crime prevention by detective methods when selecting intelligence. Materials and Methods. The study employed methods of theoretical and empirical knowledge acquisition: historical, system-structural, formal-logical, comparative-legal analysis; private methods: observation, content analysis of law enforcement practice, mass media materials. Results and Discussion. Identification, elimination, neutralization of the causes and conditions that contribute to the spread of extremism serve as a guide for public authorities, municipal bodies and civil society institutions in their activities on the early prevention of extremism. Extremist worldview is considered as a socio-psychological phenomenon and it is stated that the study of its determining patterns has a cognitive and predictive role in solving the tasks of individual crime prevention by detective means. Characteristics of patterns of extremist worldview are mentality, personality orientation and life goals, social senses, readiness for illegal actions. It is emphasized that when studying the socio-psychological patterns of individuals prone to extremism, it is necessary to record the change and novelty of their personal formations, analyze intentions, real behavioral actions and social conditions for their implementation. Conclusions. The authors state the insufficiency of the efforts of law enforcement agencies in counteracting extremism, the scarcity of its psychological research. It is emphasized that the cognitive orientation of subjects of counteraction requires adjusting the existing criteria for selecting, estimating and using information related to the assessment of a person as being capable of extremist unlawful behavior, socio-psychological knowledge taken into consideration.
