The Suvorov military schools of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Russia act as the primary specialized link in the formation of a professionally oriented personality of the future law enforcement officer, as well as ensure the continuity of further training and official activities in the internal affairs system. The task of the Suvorov schools is the early professionalization of pupils to serve in the Ministry of the Interior. The key condition for successful professionalization during the period of study at the school is professional self-determination, which is based on a personality factor that defines the vector of professional development and professional self-realization. The influence of the social factor on the choice of a profession in law enforcement agencies, in our opinion, is not direct, but mediated by personal characteristics. The social factor is due to the fact that his parents, friends and other significant people can influence the pupil’s professional choice, but this influence will be decisive only because of vague ideas about the world of professions and the personal uncertainty of the teenager. This article presents the results of a socio-psychological analysis of the main reasons for young men entering Suvorov military schools of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Russia. According to the results of the survey, most of the young men entered Suvorov School for reasons related to their personal desires and interests. The results described in this article indicate a constructive orientation of professional self-determination among freshmen of the Suvorov Military School of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Russia. Nevertheless, among the first-year pupils there are also those whose decision on admission was not made independently; it was influenced by external conditions (parents, friends, etc.). It is with these pupils that individual work should be carried out, since they are more in need of effective assistance from the mentors.
