This article examines social projects as a tool for implementing volunteerism, and demonstrates social design as a form of volunteerism. Social projects, and social design in general, are currently an effective tool for solving social problems and are part of the country’s social and youth policy. The article emphasizes the importance and effectiveness of this phenomenon for society, as the state sets ambitious goals for the high-quality implementation of volunteerism and undertakes a range of measures to increase the popularity of volunteerism among all segments of the population, with a particular emphasis on youth and social policy. It notes the importance of developing project-based thinking in modern volunteers to foster a new mindset focused on identifying and solving contemporary social problems, establishing cause-and-effect relationships, setting objectives and goals, organizing work, analyzing results, and subsequently modifying the project in accordance with the stated objectives. The scientific novelty of this study lies in the fact that, among the diverse forms of volunteerism, social design serves as a multifunctional tool for its implementation in the Russian Federation. It involves a variety of skills, such as the ability to work in a team, correctly define the goals and objectives of a project, identify current societal problems, and find resources to solve them, but at the same time, it remains a little-studied phenomenon in modern science.
