Social service in the teachings of the orthodox church: theory and practice

The article deals with some aspects of the Christian social service in the historical, theoretical and practical contexts. The author discusses the doctrinal justification of the church social service, its purpose, in accordance with which the practical activity of a Christian is implemented. The paper considers necessary conditions of the personal development associated with the effective social service in the modern Russia.
