Social and medical correlates of alcohol dependence in men

The paper focuses on social and clinical features of alcohol dependence in men. Materials: The structured interviews were performed with 140 alcohol-dependent men admitted to a narcological clinic. The results of the survey suggest that the correlates of alcohol dependence in men are: young age, alcohol-related heredity, the start of drinking in adolescence, harmful drinking and development of alcohol dependence in young age. Conclusions: Despite the fact that alcohol dependence develops in yang age, the majority of patients are seeking medical help in the age older than 30 years. This is why the early diagnostic of alcohol dependence must be a priority of prophylactic.
