Social practices in a smart city: promising trends

The article analyzes new types of social practices, the manifestation of which in the urban environment contributes to the implementation of the smart city project. The concept of a smart city is interpreted from the point of view of the synthesis of humanitarian and technological solutions in the process of digitalization of the urban environment in order to improve the quality of citizens' lives. Environmental practices and urban practices in the so-called “landscapes of knowledge” are in the focus of attention as significant social activities. Analyzing the results of a number of Russian and European studies, the author seeks to identify the role of socio-cultural factors in the formation of a new quality of the urban environment. The research methodology is interdisciplinary in nature and includes methods of philosophical socio-cultural analysis, principles of structural and functional approach, concepts of sociological theory, as well as principles of phenomenology. The conclusions of the study highlight the leading trends in the development of the considered social practices and the factors shaping their development, which is significant for the reflection of the processes of institutionalization of the “smart city” project.
