The family institution is deeply integrated into various fields of social relations, which can be categorized into three levels: interpersonal, group, and sociocultural. At the interpersonal level, there is an inclination towards forming families; at the group level, support for social environments is provided; and at the sociocultural level, models of family relationships are shaped. The challenges facing the functioning of the family institution largely stem from contradictions between these levels. The author demonstrates that despite 90 % of respondents expressing commitment to the family, high levels of distrust towards others and low assessments of societal moral conditions hinder the crystallization of this value in the lives of almost half of the respondents. The association of a prosperous family with childbearing and child-rearing is characteristic of the majority of citizens, but understanding economic risks and social instability in society significantly diminishes the desire to have children. State family support programs do not overcome these contradictions. The majority of even married citizens are unaware of the full range of programs relevant to them and do not feel legally protected in cases of complex life circumstances related to starting a family and raising children.
