Social potential of successful ageing of modern people

The paper provides social and cultural description of the phenomenon of old age. It analyses the main aspects of social exclusion of the elderly people in the contemporary society, examines the risks and threats of the old age leading to social death. The author concludes that an alternative to the social death is implementation of the successful ageing resources by elderly people, which in general depends on human capital and rapid adoption of a new type of life in old age -"active ageing".
