Socio-cultural space of the city: from the city metaphysics to the study of urban practices

The subject of the study is the concepts and approaches to the study of the city's socio-cultural space. The aim of the study is to examine the features of the well-known areas of urban space analysis, such as metaphysics and urban semiotics, as well as an attempt to generalize and conceptualize issues of social and cultural development of the city as part of the problem of studying modern urban practices. The key methodological approach used in the study is a systematic approach. The results include the identification of conceptual foundations and perspectives for the study of urban space. Substantiation of the spatial characteristics of social urban practices makes it possible to integrate them within the boundaries of urban space. The philosophical analysis of urban practices as an integral system of cities functioning, having spatial forms of expression, the definition of its value qualities, consideration of the specificity of socio-cultural practices in the urban space will allow to reveal the essence of modern urban processes and identify the trends of Russian cities development.
