The Sociocultural Space of a Closed City: the Experience of Cultural Studies Reflection (on the Example of Ozersk, Chelyabinsk Region)

The study is devoted to the phenomenon of Soviet urbanization – closed cities that emerged as part of the implementation of the atomic project. Unlike most single-industry towns of the era of forced industrialization, they developed simultaneously with the new industry. These dynamics had clearly expressed anthropocultural intentions. The article formulates the definition of the category «sociocultural space» within the framework of the cultural approach, based on the analysis of historical and production features of the emergence of a closed city identifies, the factors of formation of their sociocultural space are identified and the key features of the sociocultural space of the Ozersk in the Chelyabinsk region – a closed satellitecity of the production association «Mayak» are revealed. A conclusion was made about the possibility of extrapolating the findings to other atomic cities, since they all have similar features of cultural genesis.
