The rapid development of science and technology, which began in the middle of the 20th century, served as the basis for the formation of the philosophical concept of transhumanism. Its opponents, while not denying the human right to use the achievements of the post-technological era, consider radical interference in human nature unacceptable. According to bioconservatives, the natural anthropological constants should be preserved in posthuman in original form. But what exactly should be understood as such units in need of protection is not specified. The article is devoted to a comprehensive analysis of the arguments of bioconservatives. Possible sociocultural consequences of uncontrolled intervention into human nature are considered in detail; potential threats posed by a process of its modernization are studied. It is shown that attempts of radical human transformation are not retroactive and can cause irreparable damage to the entire civilization.
