Sociocultural aspect of corporality in gender relations

The article deals with the phenomenon of corporality considered within the framework of modern gender relations. The authors demonstrate the defectiveness of the attitude to the body in the modern society. After many centuries of religious and puritanical attitude to the body that belittled physicality and sexuality as a sin of flesh, today the “pendulum” has swung in the opposite direction - the cult of the body and sex. Consumer society positions them as a commodity with exchange value and requiring investment in order to capitalize and profit. The authors defend the idea that such an attitude to the body reduces the human beings to their biological component, and only deep feelings can give a man and a woman the opportunity to look at each other in entirety.
