Socio-cultural potential of cultural and educational activities in modern society

The paper focuses on the theoretical aspect of studying the phenomenon of cultural and educational activities, while the applied aspects of its existence in various fields are more widely analyzed in the scientific literature. The theoretical component is considered on the basis of the provisions of sociological theories. This approach is poorly developed, unlike, for example, pedagogical and cultural ones. As a social phenomenon, cultural and educational activity is considered as a mechanism of socio-cultural transformation, when the subjects involved in it modify existing practices and create new ones, and acquire relative freedom for self-realization. The article identifies the characteristics of cultural and educational activities at the present stage of the socio-historical development of society, caused by the transition to a post-industrial way of life, the expansion of the range of subjects of social change, as well as the redistribution of the scope of rights and obligations of the individual and society.
