The objective of this article is to determine the status and problems of professional and labor self-realization of the staff (based on a sociological survey of staff and employees of the food industry in Belgorod). Within the framework of the study there are highlighted and considered preferable areas of self-realization of staff members and models for achieving success in life, referential orientations of staff members, their work satisfaction, factors contributing to or, on the contrary, hindering professional and vocational self-realization, as well as the necessary conditions for such self-realization. There is given qualitative and quantitative assessment of the state of professional and vocational self-realization. It is revealed that there are two areas of life which are more preferable for personal self-realization, namely vocational and professional growth, family life and child-rearing. About a half of the staff manages to realize themselves, while men have more achievements in this regard. The behavior of the staff members of the organizations under study is dominated by subjective options for achieving success in life. Three quarters of them indicate that they are able to work with full-time commitment. At the same time, the results of the study indicate the presence of unused professional and vocational potential, low sensitivity of many workers to the results of professional and labor self-realization, the relevance of the aim at improving organization and performance of work. Based on the results of the sociological analysis, recommendations for leaders of the surveyed organizations are substantiated, in particular with respect to the use of the motivational potential of professional and labor self-realization, considering increasing the level of management staff sensitivity to its factors (positive and negative), improving staff skills, improving labor organization and ensuring fair wages.
