Sociological study on the integration of intelligent technologies in social management of modern city: challenges and prospects

The article is the result of a sociological study of in-depth expert interviews conducted with representatives of government, management, science, and business when considering the possibilities of introducing smart, intelligent technologies in the context of digital transformation in modern cities of the Russian Federation. The novelty of the work consists in analyzing both prospects and risks, as well as in offering recommendations for the social management of urban space. Concerns and barriers in the development of smart technologies have been identified. The main challenges are considered: data security, staff shortage, unformed digital competencies of residents, high cost of technology and insufficient regulatory framework. Attention is paid to the possibilities of using intelligent technologies in the development of the transport system, healthcare and education. Recommendations are given on the development of a smart city, where, among other things, ensuring legal regulation, it is necessary to support innovations, develop secure infrastructure and scientifically inform the population about high-tech projects and intelligent technologies. The work highlights the need for a sociological approach to managing the sustainable development of the urban intellectual environment.
