Introduction. According to various authors, the prevalence of metabolic syndrome among patients with schizophrenia was 27-67%. Metabolic syndrome was pathogenetically related to cardiovascular pathology, which was the leading cause of death in patients with schizophrenia. At the same time, the increased content of non-esterified fatty acids in the blood serum and aberrant production of adipokines were important in the mechanisms of the development of metabolic syndrome.
