Бесплатный доступ

The article is devoted to the issues of conserving and developing folklore traditions. The results of the survey conducted among the students of creative majors of East Siberian State Institute of Culture demonstrated a knowledge of different folklore genres and regional folklore ensembles. In the global context a special emphasis is put on the International Organization of Folk Art (IOV), its activities, mission, and main objectives. In the local context the ways of promoting folklore originality of the indigenous peoples of the Republic of Buryatia are highlighted. Using the example of the 5th Scientific Congress and the 7th International Festival “Sounds of Eurasia” held in Ulan-Ude in 2012 the authors attract attention to how different forms of art and folk culture can be preserved, protected and promoted as elements of intangible cultural heritage.
