Safflower (Carthamus tinctorius L.) is one of the most drought-resistant oil crops. The attention of producers to this crop is associated with aridization of the climate of Russia and the deterioration of the soil with a lack of moisture. The oil obtained from safflower seeds is close to the fatty acid composition of sunflower. It is highly valued for its dietary properties due to the large amount of polyunsaturated fatty acids. Safflower oil is used in cooking, making margarine, salad dressing, frying. It finds wide application in production of varnishes and paints, as it does not turn yellow over time. The cake is used as a protein supplement for feeding pets and birds. Safflower petals contain a natural dye used in the food industry and the preparation of natural paints. Safflower is not affected by the Orobanche cumana Wallr. The introduction of this crop into the crop rotation can reduce the spread of the dangerous sunflower parasite and improve the phytosanitary condition of the fields after its cultivation...
