The condition and development of art song in contemporary Chinese culture

As a foreign art form in China, art songs reflect Western aesthetic pursuits and connotations, and at the same time are rooted in Western culture. Chinese art songs were formed in the process of interaction and even collision of traditional national culture with Western musical culture and their gradual organic fusion. The article points out the periods and characteristics of the long period of development of Chinese art song, which today has made significant progress in terms of composition and performance. The article also shows the difficulties along the way due to the establishment of market relations and the digital revolution in China. The author analyses the contradictions of the present moment in the development of Chinese art song and clarifies the strategies to overcome these contradictions.
