The state of bone tissue in patients with new-onset hypothyroidism

Metabolism and bone strength has been tested in patients with newonset hypothyroidism. For the exposure of bone strength reduction the possibility of using the screening method of ultrasonic osteometry of heel bone has been proved. The change of bone strength in a peripheral segment of skeleton (heel bone) has been revealed. The bone strength reduction is caused by the deceleration of bone tissue remodeling which became apparent in marker level reduction of bone resorption and bone formation marker. The influence of hypothyroidism weight on frequency of osteopenic syndrome and the reduction of indicators of ultrasonic osteometry of heel bone at this group of patients has been revealed.
