Lipid metabolism and its correlation with microalbuminuria in children and adolescents with obesity

Aim: to investigate the lipid metabolism and its correlation with albumin urine secretion in children and adolescents with obesity Procedures we evaluated 93 patients with excess body weight and obesity attending endocrinology department of Republic clinical hospital for children. We analyzed levels of cholesterol, HDL, LDL, triglycerides with calculation of the Atherogenic Index. During evaluation of lipid metabolism in children and adolescents with obesity we registered the greater change in the levels of LDL, HDL and the Atherogenic index than in triglycerides. Progression of obesity in children and adolescents the increase of triglycerides level and the Atherogemic index is accompanied by the elevation of microalbuminuria.
