State, problems and opportunities of development of domestic hemp farming

In recent years, Russia has increased interest in the cultivation of technical hemp, annually increasing the acreage of culture. The article considers the state of hemp farming in different years, types of state support and its role in the development of the sub-sector. The introductory part presents the national economic and strategic importance of hemp as a raw material for various industries, the directions of cultivation of culture are considered, the purpose of the work is set - assess the condition, identify sub-industry problems and identify opportunities for cannabis development. The discussion presents statistical data of hemp production in soviet times and modern Russia. There has been a multiple increase in acreage over the past decade. The largest hemp-growing region has been identified, in which about 37 percent of the cultivated areas in the country are concentrated. The comparison with indicators of hemp-growing foreign countries is carried out. Attention is paid to the selection and seed-growing activities in hemp, through which scientists derive new varieties of drug-free hemp. The material and technical base of hemp farming is considered, where the reduction of processing from 71 in the Soviet period to 6 at the present time is noted, the problem is formulated, which consists in the absence of modern domestic specialized equipment for harvesting hemp. The types of state support aimed at the development of the hemp industry are studied. In conclusion, the prospects and innovative attractiveness of the sub-sector are noted.
