In the present research we studied the state of the processes of free radical oxidation in blood and homogenate of liver by means of the method of iron- induced chemiluminescence registration and by determining the products of lipid peroxidation (LPO) in acute experimental toxic damage of the liver by carbon tetrachloride. We showed that during the first hours of acute intoxication, the intensity of chemiluminescence increases, and the products of LPO accumulate in liver tissue and in blood, which is caused by the decrease of general antioxidation, by the appearance of free radicals, by the rise of the amount of lipid hydroperoxides. The reduction of chemiluminescence indices in liver homogenate by the end of 2-3 days of intoxication relative to the first hours is caused by the increase of oxidation speed, by the damage of liver cells, but not by the increase of the strength of the whole antioxidant system. The character of changes of free radical oxidation in blood and liver differs depending on the dynamic of acute liver damage.
