The status of prooxidant and antioxidant systems in children with atopic dermatitis (n=33) was studied. The levels of primary and secondary lipid peroxidation products (PP) and nonenzymatic antioxidant system indicators (antioxidant activity of erythrocytes) were estimated after standard treatment and after therapy combined with systemic ozone application via the rectal insufflations of ozone/oxygen mixture. Data of the study showed that the low therapeutic concentrations of medical ozone enhanced lipid peroxidation and induced adequate compensatory release of endogenous antioxidants from the store.
