Traditional endodontic techniques without taking into consideration endodontic anatomy as well as poor!quality x!ray methods account for low effectiveness of treatment of permanent teeth in teenagers and adolescents. Dental volume tomography (dvt) allows us to objectivize the criteria to estimate maturation and mineralization of hard tissues of tooth roots and draw up principles to plan and perform endodontic treatment taking into account anatomic characteristics. The aim of the study is to improve endodontic techniques. Fragments of medical histories of 116 patients were analysed. The study of anatomic characteristics and mineralization of tooth hard tissues was based on dvt information. 159 patients aged 12-24 years and 36 patients aged 25-30 years were diagnosed using 3dx accuitomo/fpd (j. morita) and picasso pro (vatech). The analysis of the medical histories showed complications in 85,5% cases. The study of the dvt data showed threshold values of apical orifice width from 0,62 to 0,66 mm and tooth hard tissue density in the apical area of the root from 1390 to 1410 hu that is natural for mature permanent teeth. The technique of endodontic treatment was chosen according to the range of indices of apical orifice width and hard tissue density. The study of dvt proves that this method is more informative compared with others. The study also shows that during several years after eruption and the final stage of apexogenesis in adolescents permanent teeth anatomic characteristics and low mineralization of hard tooth tissues, especially in the apical area, still remain.
