Contemporary Art and New Technological Opportunities: problems and development prospects

Modern civilization is experiencing a transition to an information type of culture, one of the elements of which is mass digitalization. The article analyzes the possibilities of using artificial intelligence in contemporary art. The author begins the consideration with the definition of the terms “contemporary art” and “computer art”, tracing the stages of the formation of these phenomena. It is further emphasized that the changes in art that occur due to the use of AI require the development of new methodological approaches to its study and updating the terminology base, and the already created technical options for the use of AI by modern masters are described. The author emphasizes that the existing ones indicate that the final result of AI work largely depends on the data entered into it. That is, the supposedly creative process carried out by AI cannot be called unique; in fact, it is only an interpretation of already created styles and ideas.
