Modern professional education of police in foreign countries: national differences

The article discusses organization of national education for police officers. Generalized education strategies, competency models, structure and content of police training at different stages of training. The actions of international police associations to standardize training and education are described. Noted modern tendencies of organizing a European educational space for police officers. Integration of police and civil education in various countries of the world is analyzed. The levels and specific of national police education around the world are revealed. Generalized that the discussion about the preference for police education rather than short-term training is argued by the positive impact of education on the student’s personality. A direct and indirect system of relations between the competency model of a graduate and police activity is noted, a multilevel model of competencies of a police officer is illustrated. Two basic strategies for training police officers of foreign countries are synthesized. The pedagogical strategies for their implementation are examined, the advantages and disadvantages of each of them are noted. In conclusion, heterogeneity of education and training of professional education of police officers is noted with the similarity of tasks assigned to the police. The conclusion is drawn about the need for an indepth review of national methods and means of training police in foreign countries.
