Current status and future development opportunities of the natural gas industry in the Russian high north area

The article analyzes the current state, role and specificity of the gas industry in the Arctic zone of Russia. Prospects for the development of liquefied natural gas (LNG) production are considered. It is noted that in order to achieve the tasks set, it is necessary to solve, in particular, such problems as the creation of infrastructure in the Arctic zone of Russia, the development of an import substitution system for equipment and software, and the provision of human resources. The authors come to the conclusion that LNG production in the Arctic will be not only a driver for the development of the entire Arctic zone of the Russian Federation, but will also strengthen Russia’s position on the world stage. They offer directions for solving the assigned tasks.
