Current state of the fishery folklore of the White Sea winter shore

For local population, the Pomors, hunting, sealing, and fishing has always been one of the main occupations for an extended period of time due to the local natural conditions. Though Pomors’ household traditions have changed with the course of time hunting continues to play an important role in their lives. Household peculiarities are reflected in Pomors’ traditional culture: an extensive layer of fishery folklore has been developed. In this article we try to analyze the current state of Pomors’ fishery folklore.
