The modern state of tourist-recreational sector of the Moldovan Transnistrian region and prospects of its development

The article considers the main priorities of the tourism potential of Moldova and Transnistria, the status of the tourism industry in the region and prospects of development of the industry in modern conditions. The authors define the presence of rich recreational, tourist, historical, cultural and natural resource potential of the Moldovan-Transnistrian region, despite its non-recognition and isolation. They emphasize natural and ethno-cultural conditions of development of recreational nature use and tourism and characterize the region tourist destinations which are the most promising to discover, as well as analyze the infrastructure condition of the Dniester basin. The article presents the statistical indicators of inhabitants of Moldovan-Transnistrian region’s tourist migrations in the period from 2013 to 2016, shows the level of material income in the region from tourism activity. The authors analyze the factors hindering the development of recreation and tourism in Transnistria and Moldova, and also give the recommendations on optimization of tourist-recreational sphere development in Moldova and Transnistria.
