Modern trends in the reform of criminal legislation on fraud and crimes in the digital environment

The article analyzes current trends in the reform of the criminal legislation of the Russian Federation in the context of the digitalization of society. The draft Federal Law prepared by the Ministry of Digital Development, Communications and Mass Media of the Russian Federation aimed at improving criminal law regulations on fraud and crimes committed in the digital environment has been reviewed. Special attention is paid to new approaches to the qualification of fraud committed using digital technologies, as well as issues of legislative consolidation of responsibility for crimes committed using artificial intelligence and digital currency. There has been an increase in the number of remote frauds committed against senior citizens, which indicates the particular public danger of this type of crime and the need to strengthen criminal protection measures for the most vulnerable groups of the population. The author has formulated proposals for improving criminal legislation aimed at increasing responsibility for remote forms of fraud, creating special qualifying signs, as well as expanding preventive and informational measures to protect citizens.
