Current status of postop. analgesia remains inadequate over the world. Resource of opioids is limited; moreover opioids cause some complications and restricted legislation of Russian Federation. NSAIDs have serious contraindications in many patients. In this connection it should be paid attention to agents acting on N-methyl-D-aspartate receptors that play important role in pathogenesis of acute pain. In this review it is discussed role of ketamine, anticonvulsant gabapentin and magnesium sulphate in postop. analgesia.
