Special knowledge in the criminal process and digitalization

Due to changes in the socio-political life of people, the need for legal certainty of new forms of the use of special knowledge in criminal proceedings is increasing, this is dictated by the transition to a new stage of development of society in connection with the introduction of new information technologies and widespread digitalization. The study of the legal nature of the participation of specialists and experts in the disclosure, investigation, and substantive resolution of criminal cases has identified a number of problems that require a speedy scientific solution in the conditions of modern reality. The objectives of this work are to study the directions of improving the use of special knowledge through the latest digital capabilities.The development of remote types of communication of state and law enforcement agencies, complex issues of their interaction with specialists and experts predetermine the objectives of the study. Systematization and unification of the requirements imposed on persons with special knowledge, standardization of their work in criminal proceedings, elimination of legal gaps in a given area, the use of the latest digital tools, minimization of financial ones allow solving the identified problems.The opinions of scientists on this topic should be systematized and need an appropriate modern scientific assessment and legislative reflection. The activity of an expert and a specialist requires a deep rethinking in the light of the transformation of the criminal process. A new approach should also be applied to the evaluation of the results of the work of persons with special knowledge in criminal proceedings.
