Specific character of the image "women" in Germans paroemias

The given article is devoted to analyzing a female image, its qualitative characteristics (both positive and negative) in German paroemias. It is they that most vividly reflect the specific character of the Germans’ outlook, their cultural values and artistic resources of the German language. Characterizing a woman is one of the biggest layers in paroemiological national fund. Taking into account the analyzed proverbs and sayings, containing both a positive and a negative image of the analyzed concept, the authors came to the conclusion that a woman is often shown in a negative light: insidious, silly, unladylike, vindictive, etc. But, nevertheless, she reserves the right to be a happy woman, a wife and a mother.
