The article considers the phenomenon of socio-cultural bases of deviant behavior in the space of a small town in the context of their social perception. The focus of attention is on socio-cultural factors that have a restraining or reinforcing effect on the most negative deviant behavior - aggressive behavior. School shooting is studied as one of the most pronounced and dangerous phenomena. On the basis of the analysis of existing discourses, review of foreign and domestic literature, it is proposed to consider school shooting as a social problem characterized by socio-cultural and territorial conditionality. Prevention of school shooting as a generation of the socio-cultural environment of a particular local community is considered as a necessary condition for the preservation of the territory’s resources and its development, the solution of the problem of human saving in all the diversity of its aspects. The socio-cultural bases of deviant behavior are studied in the context of the peculiarities of the functioning of the local community of a small town, including multilevel, rent, unequal access to resources and people’s subjective perception of the territory as a whole, which can influence the nature of its development. The expediency of this approach is justified by the higher manifestation and significance of sociocultural factors in relation to the rootedness of people in the territory of origin. The article considers the possibility of preventing school shooting as a form of deviant behavior through transformations aimed at the maximum possible implementation of people’s interests, increasing the satisfaction of all stakeholders with the situation in the territory. As a mechanism for implementing this approach, it is proposed to fine-tune existing and prospective national, federal and regional projects in the direction of changing the role of family and school institutions in the prevention of deviant behavior and harmonizing them with local social and activity landscapes. The data of two questionnaire surveys conducted in September - December 2022 were used as the empirical base of the study. The aim of the study was to analyze social living conditions in the context of socio-cultural attitudes that may contribute to school shooting.
