The article presents the research on identification of a fuller pathogenic complex of sunflower seeds and localization of pathogenic agent in achene tissues by means of phytoexamination methods developed in our institute. It was determined that more reliable results are received by the analysis of seeds kernels incubated on a potato and glucose agar under variable temperatures in range 18 to 25 °C during longer time period - up to 14-15 days. During this time not only the colonies of quickly growing fungi of Alternaria spp., Fusarium spp., Sclerotinia sclerotiorum, Sclerotium bataticola manage to appear, but also the fungi colonies with more compact mycelium - Verticillium dachliae, Phomopsis spp. The method of phytoexamination of N.A. Naumova (1960) improved by us is effective in case of isolation of agents of Phomopsis and white rot from the seeds collected from sunflower plants with affected stalk and with no disease symptoms on the heads.
