Ways to combat the spread of "fake information"

The rapid spread of fake information, mainly via the Internet is an enormous problem for the Russian Federation and the world community in general. All countries have been currently facing the spread of coronavirus and the emergence of «fake» news linked to this subject. In the article, the definition of «fake» information is given. Moreover, it analyses the technologies used to spread the news as well as the examples of combating the spread of «fake information» with administrative methods, such as establishment of legislation acts, increasing accountability for the spread of «fake» information, activities undertaken by law enforcement community in this area. The article also provides recommendations on the use of additional features to prevent the spread of «fake information» using tools of public relations (PR). The easiest way to prevent the appearance of «fakes» is to fill the information space with official reliable information as much as possible. .
