Statement of the problem. The relevance of the research is due to the steady growth in the popularity of the fantasy genre in Russia and around the world. A comparative analysis of the artistic worlds of V. Kamsha and J. Martin, recognized masters of fantasy literature, helps us to better understand the trends in the development of the genre. The purpose of the work is to identify the typology of differences and similarities between the artistic worlds of V. Kamsha and J. Martin through the analysis of cosmology and chronotope fantasy cycles. Review of the scientific literature on the problem. The analysis is based on works in the field of the study of fantasy poetics (J.R.R. Tolkien, T.I. Khoruzhenko, E.N. Kovtun, E.E. Prikazchikova), including the themes of understanding the chronotope Reflections of Eterna and Songs of Ice and Fire (P.S. Cherkesova, I.V. Lebedev). Methodology. Comparative historical, genre, typological and mythopoetic analyses are used as research methods. Research results. A comparative analysis of the artistic worlds of V. Kamsha and J. Martin showed similar elements of deep mythology and large-scale geography, but differences in approaches to cosmology and chronotope. V. Kamsha has a detailed system of “Necklace” worlds with clear eschatological cycles, whereas J. Martin’s world is more mysterious, with an emphasis on earthly events and indefinite time cycles. The image of the Border organizes V. Kamsha’s vertical worlds and J. Martin’s horizontal worlds. Kamsha creates a unique author’s mythology, while Martin relies on historical analogies and Scandinavian mythology.
