Estimate of 39 sunflower varieties for their resistance to broomrape and downy mildew was carried out under artificial infection in greenhouse. The most resistant to broomrape were varieties Rodnik. Berezanskii. Master and Lakomka: hybrids Kubanskii 941 and Kubanskii 48: self-pollinated lines BK-276. BK-639. Varieties Meteor. Photon. Stepnyak and Jubileiny 60; hybrids Kubanskii 930, Kubanskii 480, Kubanskii 341, Kubanskii 371, Kubanskii 93: self-« pollinated lines В К-464, ВК-653 and ВA-93 were temperately resistant. Varieties SUR. Voronezhskii 638. SPK and Krepysh: hybrid Temp: restorer lines of pollen fertility ВК-541, BK-572 and BK-580 were attributed to the group of samples susceptible to broomrape. The most susceptible were: variety VNIIMK 8883: hybrids Quant. Signal. Garant. NS-H-52 and NS-H-32; restorer lines of pollen fertility BK-571 and BK-591. In North-Caucasian region mass spreading of new. more aggressive races of downy mildew was noted. Hybrids Kubanskii 930, Kubanskii 480, Kubanskii 341, Kubanskii 941, Temp, Quant, Signal, Garant, NS-H-32 and NS-H-32: restorer lines of pollen fertility ВК-541, BK-572, BK-580 and BK-591 possessed genetic resistance to these races. Other varieties involved in the study were susceptible to the pathogen. Only 4 hvbrids: Kubanskii 930, Kubanskii 480, Kubanskii 341, Kubanskii 941 had complex resistance to both pathogens.
