Statement of the problem. The article addresses the relevant problem of finding effective methods for teaching English, specifically overcoming difficulties in mastering grammatical structures caused by the discrepancy between the grammatical categories of English and Russian. Particular attention is paid to the underdevelopment of mnemonic techniques for teaching grammar. The purpose of the article is to experimentally test the hypothesis about the differentiated effectiveness of speech (rhymes, sound associations) and visual (images, diagrams) mnemonic devices for memorizing simple and complex grammatical forms of the English language, respectively. Methodology (materials and methods). The research methodology consists in analysis of scientific research works by foreign and Russian scientists recognized by the scientific community, as well as a pedagogical experiment. To process the results and assess the statistical significance of the differences, the Student’s t-test was used for related samples. Research results. The results showed a statistically significant improvement in both groups. However, a differentiated effectiveness of the methods was revealed: the group using speech mnemonics showed significant progress in vocabulary memorization (p < 0.05), while the group using visual techniques demonstrated high effectiveness in mastering complex grammatical forms (p < 0.001). Conclusions. The research hypothesis was confirmed. It was established that speech mnemonics are more effective for memorizing simple vocabulary, while visual techniques are optimal for acquiring complex grammatical constructions. Based on this, it is concluded that a combined use of both types of mnemonic devices in the educational process is advisable for the comprehensive development of language skills. Author’s contribution: The author developed and tested a methodology for the comparative assessment of the effectiveness of mnemonic techniques, conducted the experiment, performed statistical data analysis, and interpreted the results.
