3 variants of cardiac protection while applying a laser-induced fluorescence method and determining a degree of DNA fragmentation in the nucleus and cytoplasm in 28 infants with congenital heart disease (CHD) were analyzed. 9 patients were operated under hypothermic conditions, with the use of crystalloid chemical/hypothermic cardioplegia (CCHCP), 7 patients were treated with blood cardioplegia and 12 patients - with «Custodiol» solution. Applying «Custodiol» myocard solution for protection has resulted in the smallest shears in the ultrastructure, thus offering advantages to this technique of cardiac protection. Laboratory study results are shown to match the clinical indicators of myocardium protection efficiency. It is pointed out that when applying crystalloid chemical/hypothermic cardioplegia (CCHCP) and blood cardioplegia, transitory postischemic metabolic imbalances, transitory conductive abnormalities and rhythm disturbances, as well as local disorders of myocardium contractility occur more frequently in the immediate follow-up.
