Comparative study on peculiarities of expressing the national identity in Russian and French

The present article is devoted to the comparative study of national identity in modern Russian and French. The analysis of language as an identifier of national identity contributes to understanding and realizing of our own national identities and national identity of the country, which language they learn, both at native and foreign language lessons. These lessons examine symbols, history and culture of the country, which language they learn, and compare them to symbols and history of their own country and its rich culture. As a result, it forms civil patriotism, a love to people and a sense of responsibility for their lives and prevents a loss of national identities of the future generation. Furthermore, patriotic upbringing is very important at the age when students start realizing their values. The practical relevance of the paper also lies in the fact that study results can be further used at lessons of Russian and foreign languages when forming a sociolinguistic competence and developing courses of intercultural communication.
