Comparative analysis of methods for verifying work permits and labor patents for foreign citizens in Russia and Japan

This article provides an in-depth comparative analysis of the systems used in Russia and Japan to verify the validity of work permits and patents, highlighting the different methodologies, technological infrastructures and legal frameworks that underpin these processes in both countries. The article reveals the problems and efficiencies inherent in each system, drawing on a number of legal documents and real-world experience. In addition, the article discusses significant changes in the migration legislation of the Russian Federation, which came into force in January 2024. These reforms, aimed at simplifying the procedure for obtaining work permits, patents and simplifying verification of their validity, represent a turning point in the Russian approach to managing migration and innovation.
