Quantitative changes of serum α2-macroglobulin (MG) and pregnancy-associated α2-glycoprotein (PAG) were investigated in 45 women with tubular infertility before their entering in extracorporeal fertilization programs (ECF), after hormonal induction of ovulation and 3-4 weeks after the embryo transfers (ET). Seventeen healthy non-pregnant women and 14 women with physiological pregnancy in terms of 3-4 weeks were observed as controls. Macroglobulin concentration in the samples of blood serum was determined using rocket immunoelectrophoresis. The results showed that gonadotropinstimulated ovulation results in increase of MG and PAG levels, and their high serum concentration is kept both at positive and at negative ECF results 3-4 weeks after ET. MG may be favorable prognosis criterion of ECF efficiency because its high serum concentration associates with the occurrence of induced pregnancy.
